Because Music invited director Jules Renault to create the music video for “Te Prohibo”, the latest single by French / Argentinian band Plaza Francia Orchestra. Per the band’s request, the music video was to prominently feature traditional Argentinian tango dancing.
Inspired by the track’s dramatic quality, i came up with the concept of staging the action in a 1940s Parisian ballroom, and invited dancer / choreographer Fauve Hautot to star in the music video as a foxy barmaid who breaks off a quarrel between rival club patrons and takes control of the ballroom by performing commanding Tango dance figures, while Plaza Francia Orchestra performs on stage.
The music video was used as the visual vehicle to announce Plaza Francia Orchestra’s upcoming album, following the success of “A New Tango Songbook”, the group’s previous gold release.
